Punta del Hidalgo and Macizo de Anaga |
|
 |
Leaving Puerto de la Cruz towards La Laguna by the highway, one takes the detour to Tacoronte. From there one goes 10 kilometres further to Bajamar and another two kilometres to Punta del Hidalgo where one gets beatiful views over the sea of the Anaga highland ridges.
One turns back 5 kilometres along the same route as far as Tejina where one goes in the direction of Tegueste. Six kilometres later one finds the road forks to La Laguna on the right and on the left to Las Mercedes which is where one is heading for. The road climbs among densde vegetation of laurisilva up to the beauty spots of La Cruz del Carmen and them Pico del Ingles a few kilometres away. From this point one must return some hundred metres along the way one came and take the left turn towards El Bailadero.
From El Bailadero it is possible to go down to Taganana and Almaciga to the left and go straigh on as far as Chamorga, approaching the peak of the highlands or do both things. The three options mean returning to El Bailadero from where one travels south towards San Andrés.

"Pirámides de Güímar" is an Ethnographic Park with a great archaeological and historical value.
Within its premises we will come across six step pyramids (having great resemblance to those found in South America, Egypt, Sicily, Sardinia, Tahiti. e.t.a.).
The park also includes an outstanding museum, where we can discover the cultural parallelisms between the old and new worlds. In its exclusive auditorium, the world famous anthropologist Thor Heyerdahl uncovers his views and ideas, through a documentary. The primitive navigation centre, will tell us more about how navigation in ancient times was undertaken, holding small scale replicas of reed boats, (used by Thor Heyerdahl himself in his incredible adventures across the oceans), and a real life size replica of the "RaII". Last but not least we will also encounter the exposition centre, where at present, a great photographic exposition dedicated to the "Canarian Dragon Trees" can be seen.
The Park is also orientated towards handicap persons, and offers all services available: children's playground, Café bar, shop, eta. Not to forget that Conferences, Incentives, Gala Dinners, Cocktails, Team Building events, e.t.a, can be also organised within its premises.
